The dwelling of Cascina Testa

The dwelling of Cascina Testa, datable between the IX and the VIII centuries B.C. developed on the natural slope bordering the bank of the Ticino, along the existing road to Golasecca.

Initially square buildings in wood were constructed, divided by open corridors and all with the same orientation, of which the only remains are the imprints of load bearing posts. Not long after were erected, transversally to the preceding and now destroyed buildings, dwellings with stone foundations and wooden walls, always according to a regular orthogonal plan.

In the vicinity of the settlement and perhaps related to it, one finds the vast cemeteries, the Presualdo and the Monsorino, utilised up to the VIII century B.C., in which have been found numerous cromlech, funeral enclosures in river cobbles typical of this area. At Presualdo has also been found important evidence for the use of writing by the Golasecca people.
