The Dwelling of Briccola/Novelli

In 1959 the excavation on a terrace behind the ‘boatyard’ revealed structures with stone footings.

Successive finds suggested the extension upstream of the settlement, that, placed on terraces going down towards the river, occupied completely the area between the port of Briccola, the zone behind the modern cemetery and the slopes that rise up to merge with the settlement nuclei on the hills of Mirabella

In the lower parts, and also close to Cascina Novelli, (the true river ports), the finds range from the IX to the beginning of the VI centuries B.C., while in the higher zones towards the cemetery, probably due to the loss of the more recent material, pottery datable to the V century B.C. is found.
